Following our work with Broadway Malyan at Richard Crossman Building, FRA were appointed to provide a similar signage system, as well as developing the visual identity for a new health and life sciences building at Coventry University, SHB.
The building provides state-of-the-art health and sports simulation spaces and specialist science and research facilities, including a fully functioning NHS funded ‘mock’ hospital, a simulation operating theatre, hospital wards and high fidelity suites. The building also boasts the country’s first purpose built ‘Superlab’, allowing up to 250 students to learn in a single laboratory environment.
FRA has designed and delivered a unique wayfinding system and product family that complements the university architecture and successfully bridges the visual identity of the two health and life sciences university campuses. Our scope of work also included designs for environmental wallpaper graphics, sourcing influential and engaging photography, layered with graphics that also served as wayfinding. To offer privacy to ground floor activities, a pictogram ‘lace curtain’ manifestation was applied to external glazed wall facades while an ‘inspiring word’ lace banding was applied to more public glazed spaces.
The overall scheme provides staff and students with a vibrant workspace and engaging environment to learn in.
