FRA are working alongside lead architects BDP and brand consultancy Fitch to develop a wayfinding strategy and scheme design for Westgate Centre, Oxford developed by Westgate Oxford Alliance, a JV between The Crown Estates and Land Securities due to open in 2017.

The centre is a £500m, 800,000sqft redevelopment, anchored by a John Lewis flagship and is set in a mix of covered streets, arcades, lanes and squares.

FRA are developing a strategy that integrates the wayfinding with the branding, public realm design and architectural fabric of the development. The centre is set in a sensitive context of the historic city of Oxford and we are working with both city and county councils to ensure that the scheme is in harmony with the city yet delivers a strong, vibrant retail appeal that is key to the success of the development.
