Birmingham Architectural Association (BAA), founded in 1874, has a rich heritage in promoting excellence in architecture. It’s evolved overtime, and in 2018 it took a leap forward with a completely new brand, website and events strategy. The BAA’s new leadership committee wanted to galvanise Birmingham’s booming design community and provide a platform to push design further.

f.r.a. are proud partners and sponsors of the BAA. Our design director (Wesley Meyer) designed their new brand during his time at Gensler’s Birmingham studio. It wasn’t a ‘big thing’, in fact it may have been a favour for a friend done over a lunch break. But it stuck. The new look for BAA graphically reflects dynamic nature of the organisation and the iconic viaducts and saw-tooth factories of Birmingham. At f.r.a., the brand was refined and we built a responsive website to host BAA’s new platform. The bold geometry and stylised graphics meld with a feature rich site allowing BAA to deliver events, news and information to their growing membership.
